Other Services

As well as general medical services, we also offer full maternity care, child health surveillance, a full range of family planning, minor surgery, health promotion and screening. Insurance, HGV medicals and other similar medicals are arranged by appointment. These cannot be done in normal clinics.

Home Visits

These are for patients who are too ill to attend the surgery. Please ring before 10am and be prepared to give brief details, in order for the urgency to be assessed. The doctor may call you back to discuss the problem and the request for a visit.

Appointments

To make an appointment, telephone the surgery during normal working hours. If you feel that your problem is urgent, tell the receptionist. She may be able to assist you better if you can tell her, in general terms, the nature of your problem. If you are not happy with her reply, ask to speak to a doctor.

We encourage you to see the same doctor, usually the one that you are registered with, although you may see any doctor.

Urgent cases will always be seen the same day, but not necessarily by the doctor of your choice.

Telephone Advice

There are a number of telephone consulations each day. These can be booked the day before. The doctor will ring you back at the booked time. A doctor is also normally available to offer telephone advice between 11.30am and 11.45am.

Test Results

The results of tests requested by the doctors at the surgery, including X-rays, blood tests, cervical smear results, urine and swab results, can be obtained by phoning the surgery between 2pm and 6pm. It is important that you should find out the results of all tests which you have had - do not assume that they are normal, just because you do not hear anything.

Repeat Prescriptions

Please allow two working days for prescriptions to be processed. You can obtain a repeat prescription by leaving the printed list of drugs in the appropriate box at the surgery, marking the ones that you require; you can also fax repeat prescriptions, or post them - Remember to include a stamped addressed envelope with your request, and allow longer for the prescription to reach you.

We do not take repeat prescriptions over the phone.

We welcome suggestions to improve the running of the practice, or about the service we provide. Should you have a complaint, please write to the practice manager.                                                        Top of Page
