Health Visitors

The Health Visiting service offers practical support and advice to families within the local community.  Working closely with GPs, Midwives, District Nurses, Mental Health Staff, Social Workers and School Nurses, the aim is to prevent ill health and promote positive health and well-being.

Health Visitors provide:-

          1)  Antenatal support and advice to both partners.

         2)  Parenting support, including home visits, child health clinics, child development assessments, immunisations and advice on children’s general development, nutritional needs, behaviour and sleeping programmes.

         3)  Postnatal group, which discusses Child Development and various health issues.

         4)  Child Health Clinics, run at Hatch Warren Community Centre and at Westside Community Centre (no appointment needed). This is a clinic to discuss all aspects of infant, child and women’s health.

              THURSDAYS, 11.30-1.00, WESTSIDE COMMUNITY CENTRE,
              PADDOCK RD, SOUTH HAM

           5)  Support during times of depression, bereavement and family conflict.

           6)  Advice and support for people with special needs and their carers.  If necessary, we can refer on to specialist services.
